Child of Light – A Game Review

child_of_lightFirst of all I have to start with WOW, as Ubisoft has achieved an art style with this game like none other I’ve ever seen!  This game has some of the most intriguing and charming characters a game could ask for, but what makes this game stand out most is it’s earthy colors and use of a hand painted art style.  This RPG gives a lot of love back to it’s predecessors as it pulls game mechanics such as exploration, crazy puzzles, and a fantastic combat system that’s become my favorite in the genre.  If you enjoy the RPG games, then this one will quickly become a gem as it’s rewarding, fun, and quickly pulls you into it’s world of mystery, magic, and elegance!

Child of Light has a hand crafted love that brings a stunning moment to each screen you see, as if it’s a piece of art you would see hanging in a gallery.  All of the characters have a warm inviting presence in the game that you can latch onto very quickly!  The bright colors are also offset by dark silhouettes of large mangled trees in the background that give you a sense of depth and layer in the game.  These hints of darker colors give you that uneasy feeling that something isn’t quite right with the world, a darkness that’s trying to take over.

divgaedmli0y2doacbsaThe fairytale like plot holds your attention quite well, and the story, though at times is distracting was superb! There’s a traveling jester who can’t figure out how rhyming works, a love-sick mouse archer, and most importantly, the main character that you get to play, a young girl named Aurora who’s trying to save her father. Aurora’s transformation from a frightened child to the hero of her own story is a journey worthy of the beautiful art work it’s accompanied by. Some modern RPGs suffer by either abandoning too much of the choice and depth that first made the genre interesting, or by piling on needless systems that don’t add anything to the experience. Child of Light makes neither of these mistakes, giving it a very balanced play style across the board.

col_screen06_156422This games biggest win is the combat system though, as it mixes a classic turn based system with some very beautiful real time elements, like icons that move a long the bottom of the screen indicating when you or your opponents turn is. Battling in the game is more then just mindless button pressing, or repetitive skill spamming, as hitting an enemy in the middle of an attack will interrupt them.  This element created a constant feeling of strategy and timing that had to be played, but also gave you a sense of great accomplishment which made it quite enjoyable!

One of the best parts is your companion Igniculus, which has a huge role in combat, exploring, and the overall game play.  He has the ability to heal allies, stun foes, light darkened paths and he is all controlled with the right thumb stick…..so there was a bit of a learning curve to control both characters, but overall it was super easy to learn!  This game also gives you the ability to fly very early on which played a huge part into the exploration of the world.  Again, this was a bit of a learning curve to control you, and your companion but something that was quite easy to get the hang of. This game worked well, played well, and overall held my attention through the entire story, keeping me engaged with something stunning and new at every screen!

Holy Patch Day for Destiny

bungie-destiny-s-april-update-will-not-revamp-vault-of-glass-crota-s-end-502042-2Destiny’s April 12th patch 2.2.0 update is an oh my goodness moment as I don’t think I’ve ever been this excited for a patch to hit a game.  When I first played Destiny it was not a pleasant experience during the first closed beta….see my review from a couple years ago.

Needless to say I picked the game up a month-ish ago and have enjoyed absolutely every single second of game play!  Other then the awe struck moments I get in The Division, this is by far my favorite console game!

So here’s what to expect once we get to boot back up in Destiny.

This patch will take Destiny to version 2.2.0, and it’s by far the largest update since The Taken King last September.  There’s so much to look forward to, including mass amounts of loot and activities to keep you quite busy, along with a new end-game activity, five brand new sets of armour, the return of year-one exotics and much more.

This is a fairly large download as it looks like the Xbox One and PS4 is around 1700 MB but for everything we are getting I can’t complain as we are getting a ton!

oaingrkvbw6wst3ocmg5.pngI’m super excited about the Challenge of the Elders – This is the section of GOLD for all us level 40’s who want to reach the new light cap of 335 as Bungie has reworked the Prison of Elders to give us something brand new, which is two new levels of difficulty, levels 41 & 42 which I’m sure are bonkers insane hard.  Four new bosses, yes, FOUR new bosses and new modifiers will be added. Level 41 includes match-making, and has a recommended Light level of 260 and apparently will drop gear up to light level 320.

I’m currently at a light level 294 and haven’t been able to run the King’s Fall Raid yet, as I literally just hit that a week ago.  Level 42 will be called Challenge of the Elders, it has no match-making, is recommended to be a light level 320 and this is where you can win the 335 armour and weapons.  Challenge of the Elders is fought over three rounds, much like the old Prison of Elders and each round with it’s own unique boss.  The scoring is interesting as your teams points will be tracked on a card called the Elder’s Sigil, and this is used for both the high score and cumulative score. If you and your team hit a high score of 30k during the run, then it’s a guaranteed win of a 335 weapon,  If you all hit 90k cumulative score each week, players will be guaranteed the 335 armour pieces, but the Challenge of Elders will reset each week, wiping the cumulative score….which honestly will be a nice little challenge for that new gear!

Here is what I’ve seen for the new run’s/strikes.

Challenge of the Elders will be a total of 16 encounters with variations of bosses and game modifiers.

Blighted Chalice – A brand new quest line and strike comes with this update.  Apparently the Taken are after Oryx’s crown again in this one….guess they will never learn that us Guardians just won’t let that happen.

Winters Run strike – Update to this strike is it’s being added back to the Heroic strike list and it will be Taken this time you battle, and has a chance to drop some nice loot.

Everything is going to increase in difficulty across the board and new rewards will be added to, The Court of Oryx, Heroic Strikes, Nightfalls, and The Kings Fall Raid.  Apparently Kings Fall Raid’s normal mode will now drop loot up to level 320, and the hard mode getting a boost up to the level 335 mark.

Malok_destinyLike I was saying previously I haven’t hit the previous light level cap of 320, and today’s update brings us the new light level of 335, hence all the gear boosts to 335 and I’m super pumped to see what they all look like, especially the Taken gear!  Included with the new armour sets is, three revamped faction sets….one for Future War Cult, Dead Orbit, and New Monarchy.  The other two sets of armour are brand new, one being the Desolate set which is the Taken armour I’m so anxious to get, and the other is Spektar armour which will have some color customization to it outside of shaders.

The way we infuse our weapons is also changing as it will now be a 1 for 1 level meaning you get the full light now and not just a percentage jump.  If you infuse a 320 item into a 310, you will now get a 320 light item! Super pumped about this, as I’ve got some goodies just waiting for my Warlock!

This isn’t even half of the updates we are getting but these were the major ones I found, and the exciting ones…but weapons, class updates etc are also coming.

Enjoy Guardians, and I will see you next time!

Starving in Don’t Starve – A Game Review

InsanityThis game drives me absolutely nuts in both a good and bad way.  I’ve spent hours just missing a moments notice of dying which is exciting and a fun aspect of this survival gem.  Though this game is the king of kings when it comes to busy work but you will likely enjoy every moment of it while being perturbed as you explore the vast environment, outfitting your toon, and making sure home base is safe and sound.  Now, that all sounds hunky dory but in one fell swoop all that time you’ve just spent just came to a screeching hault with a shadow monster invasion. It’s a roguelike at heart, meaning that death is inevitable, and once you die, it’s truly game over. Don’t Starve will never, ever hold your hand, and for that I love and hate the game to my wits end at times.

This roguelike plops you right smack dab into an amazing wilderness with a style like none other, so while your gawking at how beautiful the art is of this game, they up and leave you to figure out how to survive.  Some fans of the adventure/survival genre will enjoy this  as it gives them the freedom to express the patience and creativity it takes to play a game like this.  I was never able to connect fully with this game as it lacked any direction and didn’t have any goals to achieve other than staying alive.

don_t_starve_ps4_art_by_jeffagala-d76owmy.pngI was pretty much blown away with the graphical style of this game as it has a children’s storybook created by Tim Burton feel to it.  What makes this game well worth the time spent wondering amidst and dying is the comical bits you get throughout the story. The visuals are accompanied by a catchy soundtrack, that at first grabs the attention and perks your ears right up, but lacked any variation and looped quite often. This feature was quite annoying to me and really took away from the art style and graphics of the game, so needless to say I tend to listen to my own music while playing this game.

The idea of the game is as basic as any survival game can get: Explore the world and gather materials during the safety of daylight, survive the night by crafting a fire and consuming some food, rinse and repeat. While that sounds mundane at best to some, this game offers quite the challenge and comedy while doing it.  Amidst the comedy is a very tense struggle to survive which will bring you to the edge of your seat on how to accomplish that task. Death hangs around every corner of this game and no matter how safe you think you are…..BAM here comes a pack of screaming spiders, or a wild boar, or a huge one eyed bird ready to pluck you of life.

Of course, angry animals and strange creatures aren’t the only way to die in this game.  Just when I thought I was on the right track and doing well my sanity meter drained due to my character’s exhaustion, and my weak feeble little body was now on it’s last leg.  What do I do, eat something, build a fire, oh wait my brain is going nuts as I’ve been in the wild for 12 days now.  Basically anything and everything can cause death in this game so get ready to die and enjoy it while you do.

DntSrv1Unfair deaths do happen, and some of mine had to do with not being able to pick up a life-saving object that were right in front of me. While the overhead perspective helps show off the vast world and gives it a living, breathing, environment, it also creates very frustrating moments when items are hidden directly behind pieces of the environment. The thing about the vast landscapes is that there are lots of items in them, and there’s often times no angle from which you can click to pickup that item. When you’ve been running and gunning for hours and find yourself being chased by one of the many creatures in this world, this little bug becomes quite annoying as more than likely you will be restarting the game very soon.

The only real breaks in the what seems like a never ending cycle are the random portals scattered throughout the world that transport you to smaller, mission-based adventures.  These missions do help advance the interesting narrative, but completing them dropped me back into the dangerous wilds without the sense of accomplishment I so desperately craved.

Don't Starve Shipwrecked diaryWhen getting ready to play this game, I usually have to ask myself do I really want to spend the next 30 minutes starting over with everything?  Usually the first 30 minutes or so of each new game is an extremely dull, repetitive experience. Every time I come back to a new game I have gained some more knowledge of how to craft better items, or what areas to stay out of as they are just littered with creatures, but my character has lost all his belongings from previous, and forgotten how to craft many of the better items.  You will have to re-teach him if you want to continue on in those moments of survival.

To me those introductory game moments need more variety and whether that comes from different/bigger random events or character abilities doesn’t matter, but this game needs something to make all the dying feel more like losing progress in your story instead of being stuck in the movie groundhog day. That special something is definitely missing from the game right now.  Klei entertainment has continued to release updates to the game and it will be exciting to see this game mature in content.

All Things Geekery Podcast – Episode 1 The Rise & Fall of Virtual Reality

What a crazy ride this has been but a ride well worth the wait as WE, myself and Victus made our first podcast!  Yes, another podcast about stuff, geeky stuff to be specific.

We’ve been working on this thing for a long time, and we have probably hit every little bump along the way….but we stuck with our passion and we knew VICTORY would be ours in the end, as we triumphantly defeated those pesky technical issues that kept haunting us over the last few months.

In our very first episode we get a bit sidetracked for a few minutes and talk about our recent gaming adventures in Fallout 4, Destiny, and the awe inspiring wonder of The Division.

Then we move right into the main content for this episode which is….The rise and fall AND rise again of virtual reality.

This process has been such a fun journey to dive into, and at times we dove into the deep end of the pool when all the water had been drained out, but overall WE did it!!

We are still in the process of getting approvals for iTunes, but we are super excited to share this with everyone and hope you enjoy, so give us a shout and feedback as we’d love to hear from you all!

Here is our RSS feed which you can also paste into whichever app you enjoy using for podcatching.

The Walking Dead Game – Season 2 – Episode 3 – In Harms Way Review

twd-harmswayartHey again everyone!

It has been a minute or two since I did my last write up on this wonderful game back on episode 2 which I thought was one of the best episodes to date, but I was wrong as In Harms Way, has brought the bar up to a brand new level!

This episode was difficult from multiple levels as it makes you question the decisions you’ve made for sure.  Ever had that moment during a game of this type “If I had been more willing to do things differently, would more people still be here and alive?” Well, this game hits you like that around ever corner it seems.  One good thing I’ve learned is this episode wasn’t anything like the previous, and as good as the content was I never want to work through that episode again to see if I get any different outcomes…..long pause “Whew”.

In Harm’s Way takes the characters in this story line to their absolute breaking points, both physically and mentally.  All of the scenes you get to live through brought a satisfaction that can only come with The Walking Dead’s style, as they gave you a very memorable but yet disgusted since of accomplishment in the game.

TWD_203_CarverThis story became dark quickly and all happiness, smiles, and sense of safety was sucked from the monitor you’ve been watching.  Clementine’s new family has now just been imprisoned by Bill Carver, the maniac who debuted in Episode 2: A House Divided.  Clementine and her gang’s overnight escape plans put everyone at risk, and the story line built a very uncomfortable and surprising climax which will make you squirm in your very seat.

This episode takes you down a very dark and hopeless road towards Episode 4, as Bill Carver brings things to a screeching halt and creates a fear among the group we haven’t seen yet. is about as bleak as this franchise has ever been, and what little optimism exists is only here to remind you how easily it can be used against you.  Carver is probably the most frightening enemy to date, as things escalate to a level of unpredictability on what this mad man will do next each time you make a step in the game.

The-Walking-Dead-Season-2-Episode-3-Will-Launch-Sooner-Dev-Interested-in-PS4-429951-2Telltale games has done something pretty magnificent with this episode as they have made me play Clementine completely different.  Her bitterness in previous episodes was changed as she opened up in this episode to the people she found and so quickly became family with.  This was all done because of Carver and his psycho tendencies, as it pulled you away and shows what can happen when you become cold and don’t cherish life.

My favorite part of this episode was the emphasis, and focus they put on the group of people around Clementine.  There was very little exploration out in the environment and completely left the puzzle features behind.  This for all intensive purposes is a human episode, so there’s little room for the more involved “play” aspects of this adventure game.  Surprising enough even though we didn’t get the exploration or interaction as we did in previous episodes, this episode made up for it in, discomfort, tension, and emotional character development that in my opinion is the best to date.

I have no idea what the game holds in Episode 4 for Clementine and her group, but I can’t wait to see the next steps in the story and see the people Clem is with to a better place.

Until next time!

Back To The Future – The Game – Great Scott

adventure_game_back_to_the_future_ep_1_hd_for_ipad_2When this game first came out, I never gave it a blink of an eye or a seconds thought as I was just to darn busy playing other games.  The thought of this game peaked my interest a few weeks ago when I was browsing around on Steam and saw they had a 75% sale on TellTale games.  This was one of the games that was on sale amongst a handful of other great games but I really wanted to play Back to the Future.

Seeing how today 10/21/2015 is the official Back to the Future day I thought it fitting to give a quick blurb on my thoughts of the game.  TellTale did a fantastic job as the games story unfolds over five episodes which is set as a sequel to the original movie trilogy.  You of course get to play the iconic characters of the movie lie Marty McFly, and Doc Brown who invented the famous time machine.  He has gone back to the 1930’s and been framed for arson which makes for a very interesting story plot.  The overall game is TellTales classic third person point and click adventure game all based around the plot of the story.  While playing the game you’ll notice that messing with time jacks things up just as it did in the movies.  It’s cool being able to play the game and tie things back to the films as It just adds to the great legacy of those wonderful films all of of 80’s children grew up with.

back-to-the-future-2-530x2851When episode one kicks off we learn that Doc has been gone for months and Marty is having a really hard time dealing with him being gone.  We get to see a ton of the story that you don’t get to see from the films which is one of the draw factors for the game in my personal opinion. The game is very cartoonish at times which I don’t mind most of the times.  While playing you get to see a drastic change in the story as it bounces all over the place but the game doesn’t lose any of it’s appeal. The voice acting in the game is top notch which helps draw you into the story, characters, and the great world you get to explore in this game.

Over the next couple of weeks I will explore all the episodes and have a review of each one.  I’m anxious to play through all the game, meet the characters and see how things end for Marty and Doc.

Until next time

The Walking Dead Game – Season 2 – Episode 2 – A House Divided Review

The Walking Dead Season Game Season 2 ClementineHello everyone,

Back again this week and were taking a look at A House Divided which is episode two in this fantastic game series.  I can’t say enough about this game, action, and story line you get pulled into.  While episode one “All That Remains” focused on character development and plot building, “A House Divided” pulls everything in and brings us a very violent story that destroys the relationships we saw built in episode one.

We continue down the path of Clementines amazing character and learn more about the dark path her story is taking, but this episode has taken a turn on character importance as well.  We learn about a new addition to this fantastic story and his name is Carver, a villain with a quiet and terrifying menace.  Like The Governor in The Walking Dead comics, Carver is going to have major, memorable ramifications on Clementine and the people of this episode.  Carver is smart, calculated and very controlling which is what makes him so threatening in this story arc.  Carver is after power and control and he’s set the stage for a very nasty future that Clementine and her group will have to face for many episodes to come.

images (4)As we saw in episode one, Clementine had some very interesting character growth and it was a very intense portion of the game.  Episode two is no different as when we see someone in this story change for the worst, it’s never far off that we will run into someone who is much worse. Over this episode’s two-and-a-half-hours Clementine makes a ton of big decisions about her group’s fate, especially during the stressful and bloody 30-minute finale, while reconciling and damaging relationships along the way. Short of Lee Everett, nothing has changed Clem in quite the same way as the catastrophic events Carver puts into motion during this episode.

“A House Divided” may be the biggest episode of The Walking Dead yet in my honest opinion, both in terms of the ground covered and the variables you encounter along the way.  Again, the story is made up of a lot of conversations between the multiple parties involved, and they take wildly different directions depending on who’s alive to have them and how you treat others. You may not see certain settings, have entire conversations, or interact with certain people depending on where you take Clementine by the end of the episode’s five-day stretch.

images (3)On Clem’s journey north to find safety and a missing friend, she also ends up in some of the best action fight scenes the game has seen.  This game series has always been a master at creating drama, and tension in the fight scenes and this episode has just brought those emotions to a brand new level of extreme. The only downside is It’s still concerning to see sudden frame rate drops and animation stutters during these sorts of sequences on the platform systems, but PC has preformed beautifully so that is my go to platform for this game.

Through most of this episode we get to see a very different playing field that Telltale has created with the decisions that are made throughout.  The majority of scenes throughout this episode feel like they’ll each have lasting consequences on Clementine, or even a new group of trustworthy survivors. Depending on whether Clementine gives herself up or tries to sneak away to find backup, she’ll have entirely different game play options, conversations, and choices in separate locations.

images (1)This episode has seen immediate important shifts when big decisions are made instead of wondering when that one specific dialogue choice will come back to help or hurt you.

This episode has seen some big changes, but one thing has not changed, the writers have again blown us out of the park with the story and characters.  A chilling and introspective speech about regret, family, and letting go stands out as one of the franchise’s strongest character moments.  The best part of this episode for me, are the things that aren’t said that come out so clear.  All in All this is one of my favorite moments in the series and I can’t wait to play the next episode.

Until next time!

Tomb Raider – A New Spin on Lara Croft – Game Review

download (12)Looking back at the original Tomb Raider which came out 19 years ago… and yes that actually says 19 years ago.  I won’t lie, I wasn’t a huge fan of the Tomb Raider series but they brought in a new era of action and adventure to the gaming world.  Over the past 19 years, we’ve seen Lara any many forms and fashions, from the gun wielding expert, to the great female explorer.  But we’ve never seen a Lara quite like this new one from Crystal Dynamics as we now get to see a young Lara Croft on her very first expedition.  She has been shipwrecked and stranded on a strange remote island, packed full of dangerous moments lurking around the corners and pushed to her limits.  During the game you will get to experience this new side of Lara’s origin that we’ve never seen before.  I believe this was a great way to reboot a series like Tomb Raider that ultimately builds on the already great character we know as Lara Croft.

I’m not a big fan of games with QTE’s “Quick Time Events” but the way they built the story for this game you really don’t notice it.  Everything early on in the game feels very scripted at times, but this is also offset with the beautiful landscapes, and the character development.  Even though the opening of the game is very restrictive, the designers did such a great job on the plot that you just kinda forget about it….but the best part of the game is after you hit the open lanes and the game lets you loose on the island.  This Lara is a very different Lara then we’ve seen in past as I said before, she is vulnerable and what seems weak at times, but she is also very strong and has a will to live which connects you to the character.

The lacking areas of the game were the supporting cast by far.  Personally for me I think this is because we’ve seen multiple games with Lara Croft before, so anyone that is a supporting cast is by default lacking just because.  The plot of Lara being shipwrecked with a crew of friends is what really builds the story in this new game though.  Overall the story that was created is about Lara and not the supporting cast and Crystal Dynamics has done a fantastic job of pulling you into the story and giving you options to be a part of it.  There are a few jaw-dropping moments in this story, which develops quickly from survival-struggle into an epic battle for survival.

download (11)The combat in the game takes some getting used to because it moves so quickly, and Lara is brand new to the expedition lifestyle as this being her first, you see a few weaknesses come about. One minute she’s trying to figure out how to use a weapon it seems, and five minutes down the road she’s wielding a bow, sneaking around, and doing stealth kills like a ninja. Combat has never been the strength of Crystal Dynamics’ Tomb Raider games, but this game nailed it right on the head with an awesome system in my honest opinion. Fighting in this game is just overall fun, and it doesn’t matter what weapon Lara is carrying because your going to get to kill a lot of bad guys in this game.  Throughout the game a lot of learning goes on as well, because Lara is able to discover new weapons, and can gather scrap metals and materials to actually “MacGyver” upgrade her weapons as well. I personally enjoyed snapping arrows at high speed through bad guys skulls then using any of the guns, but to each persons own style right.

Building Lara’s skills and upgrading her weapons became a necessity for me it seemed, personally because I’m a completionist, and I wanted to see how much damage I could do.  By the time you hit the later chapters of the game you have a mercenaries personal arsenal stash to pick from. I never had a ton of hand to hand combat in the game but that is something you can upgrade and learn along the way as well, which I advise you do.  Most of the game though is focused on survival at any cost but seems to be under used in some major parts of the game and story plot.

images (39)One of my favorite parts of the survival instincts Lara has is her climbing abilities as you use it a ton in the game, but more then anything leaping across cliffs and mountain ranges with a climbing axe brings you to the edge of your seat at times. Being able to climb to new destinations around this map makes the game feel very large and actually brings you closer to feeling lost on a big remote island I think.  Lara has been to some pretty amazing places over her 19 years as an explorer but this reboot gives us a stunning, beautiful look into scenery that is hard not to stop and look at.  This game is so rich with colors, detail and beauty, you could honestly call it a work of art at times.

Tomb Raider has definitely taken inspiration from the other great action games of our generation. One of my favorites in the game were Shanty Town where you have to escape a burning building, and in the same area you were sifted down a cliff-side waterfall, so the game has a ton of depth in it’s environment.  This game brings a great mix of emotions into the game play as well, as there are moments of learning and quiet story building, heavy combat sequences, and moments your sitting on the edge of your seat clinching your teeth together.  One of the things I did like about the old Tomb Raider games were the puzzles you had to figure out, and this game is no different as Lara will have plenty of moments figuring out how to find lost treasure, or being stumped on a solution of how a door opens.  A lot of the treasure hunting takes backseat to the storyline of the campaign missions, but it’s great to have that old exploration feel in the game as well with these side missions.

When you have finally completed all the campaign missions, the map opens up for you to explore as you freely choose, and if your a completionist then what better way to go looking for those missing documents, hidden treasure, or relics you missed a long the way.  Once the main campaign is complete there won’t be any lurking threats while your out scavenging so it’s just you and the large remote island of a playground that you get to go admire now.

Brothers A Tale of Two Sons – Game Review – Episode One

download (10)Ok so yesterday I picked up a fantastic game that has been in my “Want List” for a while….Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons is a beautifuly designed game with a rather dark underlying tone that has a fairy tale look to it.  I’ve played about five hours of the game so far which for me is un-heard of.  The game has such a great story, the game play itself is quite unique and took me a bit to get used to.  Throughout the journey I’ve seen so far of these two brothers trying to save their dying father is a fascinating interaction with the world in some very unique ways.  You get to experience themes of death, adventure, teamwork, and a very in-depth story that pulls you in.  The controls for the game are very unique, as you have to use both joysticks to control the players, and it frequently caused me some hand eye coordination issues.

Much of the story and the attraction to this game for me is the Brother’s language they speak in.  It’s an imaginary language that has no subtitles, so it’s all up to us to watch body language and pull the story from the visuals being shown.  All the characters I’ve seen to this point have a stake in the story being told, as does the interaction of items in the world, locations you visit, and landmarks you are asked to find.  You have to pay very close attention and piece together all the bits of this fantastic visual story being told.

Brothers-A-Tale-of-Two-SonsThe game kicks you off in a small village with pleasant townsfolk and honestly I spent a lot of time just looking at the stunning landscapes, and environment I was just immersed in.  One complaint I have of the game so far is the lack of detail you actually get to see on the Brothers themselves.  They have a bit of lack luster compared to the world around them, but still that is minor because to me the game play and unique style makes up for that miss.  Brothers is one of the most unique games I’ve played in the last year with it’s control system, and the non-verbal language system that leaves the interpretation of the story up to you.  I love that the game has options as well, because you can jump right into game play and fight your way to the end of the game, but I’m also noticing that if you don’t pay close attention to details around you, a lot of side stories that seem to help build the story and adventure will be missed.

I’m anxious to continue on in this story, and I hope practice makes perfect with these controls because they are a challenge to get the hang of.  While the movements of the game can pull away from some of the game at times, overall the visually stunning surroundings and interesting world interactions pull you back very quickly.

More to come on this game as I’m excited to see where the journey goes and how the story plays out on this game.
